February 11, 2010

Indianapolis, IN.
Following recent negotiations with Super Boats International (SBI), Offshore Super Series (OSS) is pleased to announce an agreement to combine some of each of their upcoming race venues for an exciting 2010 season. SBI will join OSS in Biloxi, MS. May 20-23, 2010 for Smokin' the Sound. John Carbonell of SBI said, "This will be a SBI point’s race for our members". Furthermore, OSS will be joining SBI at the following race events; July 2-4, 2010, at the SBI Suncoast Grand Prix in Sarasota, FL , the SBI Michigan City Grand Prix in Indiana, Aug. 6-8, 2010 and for the Clearwater FL. SBI Nationals Oct. 1-3, 2010s. These three events will be point’s races for all OSS classes.

Teams that are registered members of SBI or OSS will be able to race at either organization’s events by paying only the entry fee for that event without having to pay equipment and membership fees to the other association. Where as, this originally was an agreement between SBI and OSS, both organizations would like to extend an invitation to members Offshore Performance Association (OPA) and Pacific Offshore Powerboat Racing Association (POPRA) to participate in this concept at all SBI and OSS sanctioned events.

Smokin’ the Sound (STS) race producer, Woody Bailey, said “We look forward to welcoming the SBI teams and others to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and will have the red carpet out. With the prospects of hosting over 50 teams, we are going to be expanding the area for race village. This is a great opportunity not only for our event but for the sport of offshore racing in North America; I applaud each organization for this agreement.

Michael Mares, OSS Board Chairman, said “I would like to extend special thanks to OSS founding member, Billy Mauff of WHM Motorsports and John Carbonell, SBI President, for their dedicated efforts and forward thinking to make this agreement a reality. Race Producers, Racers and Fans are looking for hope and stability in their sport; I think this is a step in the right direction, especially during these uncertain economic times”. Mares continued, “For the OSS teams that are looking for an opportunity to test new setups and equipment, please plan to attend the SBI Miami Grand Prix, April 16-18, 2010. Not only will this give you a chance to dial in your boat, before our season opener in Biloxi, but would help support this great venue.

The current OSS 2010 Schedule is Smokin’ the Sound, Biloxi, MS. May 20-23, 2010 Lake Cumberland Grand Prix, Somerset, KY. June 3-6, 2010, SBI Suncoast Grand Prix, Sarasota, FL. July, 2-4, 2010, SBI Michigan Grand Prix in Michigan, Aug 6-8, 2010, September TBA, SBI Clearwater, Oct. 1-3, 2010, late Oct. TBA. More details will be announced as they become available.
