bajabob, just ignore remarks like that. My Donzi 22 Classic ran 73-75 with the stock 496 HO. I repowered with a low hour HP525 EFI and Bravo XR and have hit 85.8 and I think I'll find a little more. Here is a vid of a quick run up over 80 on Lake Erie: (all gps speeds)(some gauges are out because the ECU wasn't flashed yet)

Livewire has a 2008 Sunsation 288 MCOB stock was powered with a 496 MAG HO running 67-68. He upgraded with a Whipple and XR Drive. He is running 79-81. All GPS. We are now in the process of upgrading again with a Raylar bottom end and heads along with his Whipple setup. He is looking for a conservative 725-750 HP. We will keep you updated on the speeds when this white stuff goes away:)

One of our clients has a 2009 Sunsation 32 SSR Limited with twin 600 SCi's. Not much more to upgrade on those from the 496 MAG HO's. Boat runs into the 100 mark.

One of our other customers upgraded from a 496 MAG HO to a 525 in another Sunny 288 MCOB. Boat went from 67-68 to 80-82. XR Drive and Hydraulic Steering as well.

Not sure what your asking for but ? As Mahopac Marine stated My 08' 288 ran 70ish with the stock 496 HO 425hp . I increased the HP to around 625 and picked up 10mph . I am currently building another motor which is expected to be around 725hp and I am expecting another 5 mph which should get me close to 85ish . Hope that helps , Good luck

100.4 until we stopped testing. The customer was happy with that since he broke the century mark and got busy with business. That thing accelerates unbelievably though :driving::willy_nilly:

Mahopac is always doing things big in the NY always wanting to go faster and thinking outside the box which I think has pushed the business to what it is today. Look at the 288 with the 525 that thing is crazy fast! I have never felt power like that even in a car.

What could one expect to see with a 2005 or newer 288 MCOB with 650HP N/A.....mid 80's?

I would say that would be a fair guess. For reference.....

With Stock 496 - Seeing 66 to 68 mph
With Stock 525 - Seeing 80 to 82 mph (Typically 570hp at crank with good tuning)
The one whippled 525 MCOB I've read about (approaching 800HP) - Barely breaking 90mph

Good info, been thinking more and more of getting one and curious of what to expect. I currently have a Raylar HO 600 which I would keep for future boat that dyno'd @ 660. How stable is this boat with the power and how do they react to say an extension box or IMCO shortened lower as I also have both I would like or can use on future boat. I have asked similar question on the Sunsation forum with limited response.

I doubt very much anyone has tested the maximum limits of the design with extensions and shorties.

I'll do some checking and searching.....
