What is it you guys want?

None of you that are asking for these "project 20's", ever buy any of the ones available? The ones that do, tear them down to a hull & deck, then sell it when they find out how much it costs to rebuild it. They may be small, but they aren't cheap to rebuild as some assume.

No kidding. When you get in and find out how much repair work really needs to be done- from replacing the stringers and transom, repairing all the stress cracks, having a new windshield or fairing made, fabricating a hatch, new fuel tanks... and the list goes on endlessly. Your $4,000 hull can very swiftly become a $40,000. ++ project in a blink.

This is the classic mistake that most find themselves in- and what Brandon is alluding to. You find yourself a nice 20 for $12K thinking it needs cosmetics, only to find that what you end up keeping is the hull- that needs the tank and wood all replaced and major rehabbing to the structure. So the extra $8K you spent to buy a "running boat that just needs cosmetics" results in a pile of semi worthless stuff you can't re-use. Like a corroded-up TRS and a well-worn big block with little of use in it.

Either buy a stripped hull or a full resto by a known builder.

Swing by and see them ;)

My 39 Scorpion was the same kind of deal......:ack2: (Amazing how quickly you can put 80K into a 20K boat)

Now I'm ready to trade it for a race boat.....:)

not just a hull

The cheapest ones I've seen recently are all in the low to mid $20's.

these 20's seem to be the fad right now 5 years ago a volvo sm block 20 was 5500.00 bucks running on a trailer ,a freind of mine got one with a sm block trs for 7500.00 mint ten plus years ago and still has it. I bet he would take 15000.00 less motor lol
