Sanding all the layers of paint off. Primed and block sanded the whole boat twice. The next week was rough to pick up a spoon

Thanks! I dont know if you can see but the silver is actually painted to look like carbon fiber to match the interior. that blue cost would have cost a sh*t load of money, but the great guys at PPG came through for me! I am more than happy to put that PPG sticker on the boat for what they gave me. So anyone that wants to paint their boat Long Beach Blue Pearl dont do it!!!!!

Great boat, and the work looks phenomenal. Colors are sweet. A buddy of mine had a really nice one with some healthy small blocks that ran like a scalded dog, you should be really happy with it and please keep up with the pics, very cool project.

HAHA thanks, chew doesnt work so well when your getting it though. Not enough hands to drive throttle and spit lol. Im going to start to build the fiberglass race style hatch this weekend. Amazing what you can get done in a cold winter, cold beer warm garage, and lots of friends that help.

I know its hard to tell becuase it's dirty and I take bad pictures, but no one believes me that it was painted in that barn. Lots of wet sanding to get the dirt out but worth it. I do have to give credit to Jim Bodinott for the graphics and pinstrips. Everything else I did, with my buddies help sanding

ha ha well power for right now is staying pretty mild. I'm a younger guy and it was hard enough to get insurance.... There is a pair of 454's I had bored .60 over, roller rocker assembly, mild cam, big oval port heads, just some quadrajets. The boat runs pretty well, but I dont have a speedo or gps in it so I dont know what numbers Im putting up.

Nervous???

Not here.
This board is based on trying to help everyone out in projects like this.
We absolutely LOVE these type of threads.
This board was basically built by guys that are currently doing restos, or just trying to tweak the current rig a bit, or pro's in the biz.
You did a great job on your boat. Now, you can feel free to share what you learned in the process with the rest of us that are still working on our boats.
By the Way - we have a lot of guys here that can answer a lot of those trial-AND-error questions before they cost you a fortune.
A warm welcome, and keep posting - we love this stuff:bump:

Nice, never run a BB 28, bet thats an adventure. Beautiful boat man, please continue to share it with us :) :)

You might want to consider bringing it down to the Awakening of the Horses in Kentucky next May, it would certainly be a most welcome addition to the event!

Very nice work, love it.

And never be nervous here, one of our top mandates for this site is to help the do-it-yourselfers be as successful as possible. Most of us started that way and still try to be hands on as much as possible.

Anything you want to know, our tech experts will be glad to help you with.

Again, fantastic job.....
