Is that pretty accurate if it currently runs 94 with 750 hp, it would need twice the horsepower to gain 20 mph??

It takes about 20HP to get 1 mph. And our boat does not have a canopy.

Doc,
Congrats on the 41ft Apache...look forward to seeing it on the circut in 2010.
Just a thought about getting more Class 3 boats out there;there are at least three other 41ft Apache race boats in southern NJ that would also be ideal for the class.I know that the fans would sure love to see them racing again."Island Runner" came out of retirement a few years back for an OPA race. That was really great to see. What about "Sacred Ground"?...love that 41ft Apache too!See you at the OPA party in Feb.

Ricochet,
Your boat may be better suited for class 6, 70mph up to 26'. Length is a huge factor in the ocean races. You can always step up to class 5 if neccessary or you gain more experience.
Bob G. 606 Lock'd Up Racing

PS, the number 512 is taken by Specialized Racing-the class 5 high points champion

Bob is right;a 24FT Pantera is better suited for Class 6 in OPA.Class 6 is growing with a number of new teams coming out this season.Looking forward to seeing your Pantera on the race course..I have a 24FT Pantera pleasure boat:)28FT Pantera's are ideally suited for Class 5...and Simply Awesome,Goumada,Sonic Boom and Carabbas all had at least one win in OPA,SBI or APBA.
