My first real performance boat was a 1988 22 Avanti. I used to run it on the lakes in CT and Long Island sound and then moved to Southern CA and ran it in the Pacific. Put a 550 hp 496 in it and it was a blast, we supprised a lot of bigger boats in the ocean and never got beat by anything in it's size range. I sold it to a guy in the San Fran area and I believe it's still there. I wish I never sold it. I'll try to scan pics.

Hey Peter what's the deal with this one?

http://www.plantationboat.com/boat/1

Same hull/company/molds? Just wondering. I know yours is the last one but thought they didn't build any thing for a few years before yours?

In 2006-2007 Avanti Power boats sold the molds to Egg Harbor of Miami.
EH is making CC from the same molds. These molds are modified Banana Boat molds decendents of the Coyote race hull.
The CC's are a bit shorter but pretty much the same hulls. Just look at the transom curvature. It's the same as the old Coyote and same as mine. The decks is obvioulsy different. EH is making CC's and their keeping the Avanti name. There are others on the market.
Mine was a "left over from 2007". THe original owner kept the hull for his son, but after we got to talking and his son wanted something else (would you beilive a CC? ) :) the hull got finished for me. (some bed BS stuff during the completion, but what the heII. it's done and it's great)
Never been in a CC, but I would assume they are great rough water boats as well. Probobly a bit lighter then the Offshore model that I got.
The only thing I would really check out with the "Egg Harbour" built Avantis is that the fiberglass lay up and specs are the same.
THe offshore model has 24 OZ matts.. and the deck is fiberglassed to the hull, with 3 layers of mat and resin (for example)

TY Peter!

Now that you've said it I remember the EH part of the story. I knew yours was the last true offshore beast, the whole saved for his son thing and the issues with the builder and engine guys.

Cheers and hope all is well buddy!

Nice picture! I'm glad to hear you still have the boat and it's running good. Did you put K-planes on it?

Toasty,
I am from South Jersey. Im not familiar with Powerplay boats, but I heard good things about them. I have been in a Sutphen before, they are great fast boats. What do you have in your 41? How fast? I keep my boat in Northfield at Sea Village Marina. Mybe I will see you out thissummer, I run up to AC a lot, at the Deck or the Flying Cloud. I can't wait for summer!!!!

I totally agree. Dennis is the biggest A-HOLE SCUM BAG of all time! He screwed me so bad. I am so glad he is finally out of buisness. I would be even happier if he was behind bars.

No, those are 'Victory Planes' heavy stainless plates with good mounts that use the Bennett cylinders (the boat is light, they have not broken yet) made by a guy on offshoreonly a while back, he is no longer with us.
