I am doing an IDPA 3 gun shoot tomorrow. Here is my new tactical pump shotgun. It is a Tristar Cobra 12 gauge with a fiber optic front sight. 5 in the tube and 1 in the chamber. Read a lot of good reviews on it. One of the interesting features is a spring assisted pump. Pull back to bring in a new shell and it returns by itself. I have shot a lot of pump shotguns so this will be interesting.

Anyone else done any IDPA shooting. I am using my HK USP .40 for the pistol and my DPMS Panther AR-15 for the rifle. It looks like fun. I am a complete newbie to this type of shooting.

3-gun is a blast. You need to be very relaxed to do well though. Hurrying only causes mistakes. And don't try to win, try to shoot well and shoot quickly and as you do these events you'll continually get better and better. Then you'll win.

As luck would have it the shoot got rained out. I did get a chance to meet the guy who runs it and several of the other shooters. They gave me a run down of how it all works and one of the ranges dried up and we did get a chance to practice with our handguns and AR's with a couple of scenarios. You are definetely right about going slow. It is way different when you actually have go thru the steps vs shooting at a paper target. We had a blast. I look forward to the next shoot in January.

Now imagine doing it while having fire being returned to you...
