The Lake of The Ozarks National OSS Championships

Lake Ozark, Mo. September 26, 2009: There are 28 teams entered in 11 classes competing today and Sunday for checkered flags, trophies and prize money. The 4.73 mile course has spectacular viewing areas around the Seven Mile Mark by the Horny Toad Entertainment Complex and Shady Gators.
The course went hot at 11:00 a.m. for testing and the Pro Am Series started racing at 1:30 p.m. Something new at this race was the OSS Offshore Drag Races and speed runs, two boats running side by side for “Top Gun” bragging rights. This first OSS Drag Run exposition wowed the crowds with 5 pairs of boats dragging down the straightaway. Bob Morgan of team Bad Moon Rising worked with race producer Merlyn Vandervort in conjunction with race officials to get the drag runs at this event.

The OSS National Championships are offering a media first in the sport. Charter Media will broadcast the Sunday races live over its Missouri cable system. www.americanpowerboat.tv will webcast the races live to a worldwide audience and www.talkoffshore.com will feature the audio race call on its internet radio broadcasts. Local audiences can here the race call over 102.7 FM. The race will be aired at a later date on either Fox Sports or Speed.
Martin Sanborn, Charlie Haimes and Bob Teague will be featured as the play-by-play and color commentators. Their combined years of racing and expertise in the sport will provide a unique insight to the culmination of the 2009 OSS Season.
The Offshore Super Series board president, Raymond Contreras, welcomed the team owners Friday at an owners Meeting as the OSS Offshore Management Team presented a business plan for an exciting 2010 race season. Contreras said “As we go forward with a new model of professionalism, the sport of offshore racing will be taken to a new level of worldwide recognition.”

Sunday will feature the OSS Spec Class Boats as the OSS Nationals get started at 12 noon.

Stay tuned for one of the most spectacular years in the history of offshore powerboat racing! Go to www.offshoresuperseries.com for all the info!
