Cigarette Caveman VIP Boat Heads to NYC for Debut in SBI Race

The Cigarette Racing (http://www.cigaretteracing.com) Team factory worked round the clock to get the Miss GEICO Racing (http://www.missgeicoracing.com)Caveman boat ready for its inaugural run in New York City at the 19th Annual New York Super Boat Grand Prix September 11-13. The boat hit the road from South Florida headed for Times Square where it will be on display awaiting a special appearance on the “CBS Early Morning show” on Saturday, September 11 from 7 – 9 AM EST. The boat will also be seen on the “CBS Sports Spectacular” press coverage of the New York City race.

“Being in New York City on 9/11 means a lot to all Americans, but for our Miss GEICO Racing Team, it is a special honor to be enjoying the sport we all love on a day which epitomizes the strength of our country and our freedom,” says John Haggin, owner of the Miss GEICO Race Team, “We all remember racing here with the Twin Towers in the background, now we show our respect for all those who are no longer here with us.”

While the Miss GEICO Race Team takes to the course from Jersey City’s Liberty Landing Marina, just across from historic Battery Park, the Miss GEICO Racing Cigarette Caveman boat will be escorting VIP’s and acting as a pace boat for the Sunday race. “We are delighted that GEICO and John Haggin chose a Cigarette for this important role at the races,” says Skip Braver, President and CEO, “When people feel the comfort and the power of the ride in this 38 Top Gun, they will understand why Cigarette has been the icon of the performance boating for 40 years.”

The boat’s road trip was over 1,300 miles from Miami to New York City and then it begins its water trek on the Hudson River where the 5 miles race track includes two long straight-aways and two tight turns. From New York City, the boat will travel to Moorhead City, North Carolina, September 18-20; Clearwater, Florida October 2-4 and then to Key West November 8-15 for the 29th annual World Championship races, concluding the 2009 season. The Miss GEICO Racing Team’s Caveman Cigarette will also make a stop at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, October 29-November 2 where it will be on display in the Cigarette Racing Team booth on Floating Dock HI.

What can the Miss GEICO Race Team drivers expect from this new boat? “Even a Caveman can run it!” quipped Braver.
