Wow, that's a way better price than the $50k+ that LCM quoted me on that boat 2 years ago...

Oops... Just went back and looked at the email from Randy... It wasn't $50k.

"I have attached additional photos of the Cougar. The boat had a pair
>of 900 Teagues with #5 drives. All of the rigging is brand new.
>Believe it or not, the boat was a one owner boat. The guy just restored
>the boat this year. We have gimbals and drives available if you need
>them. The boat is fully rigged, less motors, drives, and tabs. We have
>the boat listed for $95,000 on the trailer. Please let me know if you
>have any further interest, or if you would like to make an offer.
>
>Thanks,

I wonder if the purple jungle TG boat will show up somewhere soon. Or even the Superman TG they were sitting on forever too.

Dude! Sweet!

Is the purple jungle boat the ski race boat with the foot throttles?

Ryan Beckley

I believe that was the Maxon built boat. It's a shame that it's sat out side with no cover.....looks like the interior is now shot....where did the motor, drives, & trailer go???

0.17 C per pound is what it is worth.

Hull should be roughly 4-5K lbs. so after you spend a week pulling out every wire, screw, panel, etc. you can get $850 for it. :dupe:

I thought they only made 2 of the aluminum 46's One for morales (tripple big blocks) and one for Toleman (tripple small blocks). tolemans is the one Smitty and Chris Hodges Crashed into the sea wall, it was repaired and sold to someone overseas, but I'd bet that this is that boat. I don't know of a third.. Brownie???????

(I was actually referring to the Cig when I made the junk pile comment, but equally true for the Cougar.)

I talked to a guy who's got an old 38' Cougar Cat (brain fade on which one right now) sitting up on the Delta. He said when he started to stripped it he was looking at making several thousand bucks on the hull. Now he's lucky to get less than a grand for it. Its a shame that these great boats go out like this.

This cool old Cougar took some time to sell for around 50k, the worth of the drives & engines ! But that's todays market.. :(

I think the boat up in Sacramento may have been the old Budwieser / Copier Cat (but only about 75% on that recollection). The guy told me that if I'd called him a year ago, I could have had the whole shebang, less power for $25k. He was a good guy. He got the boat on a trade with a boat he got from a mechanic's lien without power but otherwise read to run.

There's a few of these boats that ultimately ended up at the right price, but at the wrong time and it's a real shame...

Yep, Don Carter's Copier Cat. The hull is not worth much on the per pound scale basis. The guy just sold the drives to someone in Italy last week. The project does not have much left to sell.

Why did Ben order a cougar V when they had the Apache V's? I know he ordered a cougar cat but Apache really didn't make cat's themselves.

Who ordered the Apache cat that nowadays is Warpaint?
A MPYD boat.

According to Brownie back in the day the Alu Cougar 46 creamed everything.
Maybe Benny was looking for options and then Bobby came with the idea "I can build you a bigger one..."

Actually Warpaint was Labatt Guniune Draft, Canada Homes was a different boat that ended up in Japan I think.

I am positive that Warpaint is the old Canada Homes boat, at least that is what I heard straight from Lorne's mouth. The boat is a Michael Peter's cat and was built by Ontario yachts. See here for more information. http://www.teamwarpaint.com/about3.html

I know all that...and know personally the whole slap-a-hoe crew...
In fact I´m their biggest and only fan in Europe ;)

I just thought to ask anyone what´s the true story from day 1 for that boat.
And whats the story of the Apache Cats...

Hey I could be wrong. Canada Homes and Labatt's were SOOO different I thought it was a different boat. CH had 2 Canopies and 5's when Labatt's first came out it had the double wide canopy and surface drives with twin rudders, and now it is back to #6 drives.....

Ryan I recall Lorne saying that the boat was cut down a handful of feet from when he used to race it, this conversation took place in Key West a few years back, so I might not be remembering it correctly. But assuming the boat was cut down I could see the changes to the drives etc. being done at the same time.

This subject came up on the other offshore site, it is apparently the same boat, in a few of the pictures you can see it has a standoff box built across the whole transom along with a tunnel extension, in some earlier photos it's a flat transom and no extension. I read somewhere that Jack Studeville did the transformation....
